Whole-Eye SD-OCT Imaging

Whether imaging zebrafish or elephants — or any animal in between — Bioptigen’s Envisu™ systems offer pre–clinical researchers

  • Better resolution,
  • Higher density, and
  • Faster visualization

than competitive systems.

Animal Image Gallery

From the very small, to the very large, Bioptigen's SD-OCT has been used for imaging the eyes of animals in research labs, veterinary hospitals and zoos. Click on any sample from our archive of animal images to see larger images of the thumbnails below.

Bioptigen has created the pre–clinical market’s deepest spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD–OCT) imaging system — delivering the highest depth and best axial resolution commercially available anywhere.

Combined with Bioptigen’s wide range of small–animal hardware and software tools, Envisu R–Class systems provide whole–eye imaging uniquely suited to helping researchers track disease and drug efficacy earlier — advancing their scientific understanding of eye development, pathologies and interventions.

Envisu R–Class System

Bioptigen Envisu R-Class systems were designed for pre-clinical eye imaging of animals ranging in size from zebrafish to elephants. Bioptigen's system enable the researcher to resolve the microstructures of the retina in fine detail, such as the nerve fiber layer, the inner and outer plexiform and nuclear layers, and those of the retinal pigment epithelium, and the vessels of the choroid. The tissue structure of the cornea, conjunctiva and sclera can also be very clearly visualized with a mere change in focal position and no increase in optical power.

  • Envisu R2200 is the first commercially available ultrahigh resolution Fourier-domain OCT system.
  • Envisu R2300 offers a larger depth of field, 3.4 mm (in air), with VHR imaging for subjects and samples where the increased imaging depth is preferred over the ultimate in axial resolution.
  • Envisu R4300 is the first Fourier-domain OCT system with extended depth-imaging capability in the 800-nanometers wavelength band.
